What Shoulder Rig Carriers Are Saying
Shoulder Rigs FAQs
What's the difference between a horizontal shoulder rig and a vertical shoulder holster?
A horizontal shoulder holster positions your handgun parallel to the ground under your arm, allowing for a quick draw motion that sweeps forward. A vertical shoulder holster carries your pistol with the muzzle pointed down, which some shooters find more comfortable for all-day wear. Both carry styles work well under a jacket; it comes down to personal preference and how you train.
Are DeSantis shoulder holsters good for larger handguns?
Yes. Shoulder carry is one of the best options for heavier firearms and full size semi-automatic pistols. The shoulder harness distributes weight across both shoulders rather than concentrating it at your waistband, making it more comfortable than a waistband holster for larger guns.
Do you make revolver shoulder holsters?
We do. Several of our shoulder holster systems are available molded for specific revolver models. Check the product dropdown on each page to see available fits for your firearm.
Can I use a shoulder holster for open carry?
While shoulder rigs are primarily designed for concealed carry under a jacket or coat, they can technically be worn for open carry depending on your state's laws. However, most shooters choose shoulder holster systems specifically for the concealment advantage they offer. If open carry is your primary goal, check out our OWB holsters for belt-mounted options.
How do I know which shoulder rig fits my body type?
All of our shoulder harness systems fit chests up to 54 inches and feature adjustable straps for a custom fit. Our half harness designs are particularly popular among shooters who have struggled to find a comfortable fit with other brands.
